Problem

Aging server infrastructure caused CETSAT to begin looking at alternate email solutions for a global media company based in London. Most of this organisation’s estate was refreshed recently and working as they required, however the email server infrastructure was last on the list and now alternate options were needed.

Strategy

With the current server being in place a long time, the needs of the organisation had changed significantly since it’s installation. CETSAT planned to look at the requirements of the business and how modern technology could better help achieve those. Our engineers would also weigh this up against current desktop and laptop infrastructure to ensure compatibility of any recommended solutions.

Technology

  • Email solution: Exchange 2010. Office 365.
  • Email security: Mimecast Email Security
  • Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008 R2. Windows 7 Professional. Windows 10 Pro.

Result

With a greater need for employees to work remotely, CETSAT provided an overview of multiple solutions, including a direct replacement for the customer’s aging server and a migration to Office 365. Embracing the freedom and licensing benefits of Office 365, the customer decided that was the best option going forward. Senior CETSAT engineers put together a migration strategy and put it into action. To minimise downtime and make the migration as smooth as possible, CETSAT elected to use a hybrid deployment method, migrating mailboxes over in stages. This was coupled with an upgrade of Microsoft Office company-wide, in line with new licensing benefits.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
