Introducing the Office Browser extension, which is available on Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers, with a simple click on the Office icon a drop down appears with options to view, edit, and create Office documents in your browser without needing Office installed on your computer. You can also access your files on the go and from anywhere thanks to its integration with OneDrive and OneDrive for Business.
How to add the Office Extension
To get the Office extension on your browser simple go to extensions icon to the right of your address bar and click on ‘Find new extensions’ (Alternatively you can do a web search for ‘Office Extension’). This will then take you to the Add-ons page, here you can simply search for Office.
Once it has appeared, click on the ‘Get’ button, and then click ‘Add Extension’. This will then add a small, dimmed Office icon onto your toolbar, if you click on this it will then ask you to sign into your Office account, or with your free Microsoft account.
Once you have signed in, select the Office extension icon on the address bar and you will now be able to browse your files or set up a new document in your browser with only a few clicks of your mouse.
